Südtiroler Apfelstrudel
South Tyrol is famous for its apple strudel. It’s well known all over the world. It’s the perfect souvenir as well! Here’s the recipe for a South Tyrolean apple studel. Enjoy baking it!
For the dough
200 grammes of sugar
250 grammes of butter
500 grammes flour
2 eggs
½ package of baking pouder
½ package of vanilla sugar
For the apple stuffing
4 South Tyrolean apples, “Golden Delicious” are the best ones to use
Juice from ½ lemon
1 lemon peel, wiped
1 dl Rum
50 grammes breadcrumbs
20 grammes raisins
10 grammes pine nuts
½ tablespoon cinnamon
60 grammes sugar
Miscellaneous
1 egg
Pouder sugar
Preparation:
Knead all ingredients to a dough. Peel the apples and cut them in thin slices. Mix them with the other ingredients of the stuffing. Roll the dough out and poor the stuffing in the middle of it. Fold the rest of the dough over it. Cover the top with egg. Pre-heat the oven to 170° Celsius. Bake the apple strudel for about 25-30 minutes. Coat with pouder sugar before serving.
